Do you have cable tv service? That's probably close to the model they want for the internet.

And they're most likely going to get it.

^Or something like XBox Live--content and service providers each running a network of their own and deciding what to provide access to on the basis of their business model and licensing deals with each other.

    With that attitude, most likely.
Besides, I can think of a few ways around the ISPs' bullshit using networks such as FreeNet and GNUNet.

There's also a petition through FreePress to encourage Zuckerberg and the heads of Google to use their influence FOR Net Neutrality: http://act.freepress.net/sign/intern...ebsite_actions

    Yep.
In lieu of Fair and Equal Protection of the laws as A RIGHT we all can just roll over and accept that would-be `rights' are de_facto privileges available for purchase from OUR BETTERS of the business faction of the government-business (and sometimes religion) consortium otherwise known as Fascism.

Is Colin Powell's son still reaping the benefits of his daddy selling out by `going political' and landing him that sweet position with the FCC as per blatant cronyism ... even AFTER he resigned?

Who is pulling the strings on this First Amendment rights privileges -- `free' speech for a price -- bill?
Who will be getting `campaign contributions' and anonymous donations to their numbered accounts in banks in Switzerland, the Caymans, Panama, etc?

Reclassify Internet bloggers as `members of the press' as per freedom of the press
Any collective chartered by any level of `government' as a `corporation' with the power to pass or obstruct `speech' would effectively limit `freedom' of `peaceable assembly' of bloggers and other members of the WWW as functionally equivalent to `the press'.

This is my half-baked strategy for either derailing this bill or taking it to the Supreme Court as unconstitutional if it becomes law.

Can freedom of assembly be put up on the auction block for sale by the FCC or any other U.S. Governmental agency?
Do citizens of the US have less a right -- perhaps a mere privilege? -- to freely promulgated speech than members of `the press'?

What bill? It sounds like whatever court case that petition is referencing was a victory for net neutrality. I honestly don't see net neutrality being in any imminent danger, what with the huge reactions to SOPA and PIPA a few years ago. Is there something else going on now?
