Music you loved, and music you hated as a kid

Let's say the cut-off age of "as a kid" is 16.

    Loved (still love)

    Hated (still hate)

"Linger" is slightly amusing if you think of it as a song about a fart. But that only makes it tolerable on occasion.

I had a long list, but wisely someone has capped it at five, lol.

I loved a lot of the upbeat radio when I was a kid, starting in around 1982 (I was 8), peaking in 1985 (at 11) or so and receding by 1989 (13):

    Spoiler: loved

    You get the idea

I hated the sadder and/or more harmonically sophisticated songs:

    Spoiler: hated

this is exemplified by this genesis song:

    Loved
    Spoiler: I'll go there...

    Hated
    Spoiler: Yup

"Oldies", almost anything pre-80s. Still have no interest if not actively hate.

    Spoiler: Specific hate, as such

Anything and everything by the Beatles. Such noise.

LOL. The Beatles = kindergarten music. They must be the only band where every single fucking cover song is better than the original. Instead of an hommage, it's more like a disgrace to the band. I actually had to go to a Beatles theme performance because my sister sings, and realized I do like a few of their songs now. It should be noted however that I have no taste in music and it's only getting worse.

Used to hate and now like (there's more but this is offensive enough):

(And they all look so adorable in this video - I can even forget Lennon's a shithead)

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARR!

I even learned how to play this at one point.

This one I'm posting more for the benefit of others. It's bound to be a favorite.

    I despised this song:

"Better not to feel too much until the crisis ends—and if it never ends, at least we’ll have suffered a little less, developed a useful dullness...The constant—and very real—fear of being hurt, the fear of death, of intolerable loss, or even of “mere” humiliation, leads each of us, the citizens and prisoners of the conflict, to dampen our own vitality, our emotional and intellectual range, and to cloak ourselves in more and more protective layers until we suffocate." - Toni Morrison

This is a song I hated:

    But this always seemed uplifting:

And everybody knows what the best 80s intro song is. Don't ask me why my parents let me watch this one, I was only 8 years old and all of these characters are fucked up. Two neurotic psychoanalysts, one douchebag playboy, a well-meaning idiot, an annoying prude, a frigid bitch and a foul mouthed shrew. Sometimes I wonder if it shaped any of my views later in life.

Uhhh... Jem was incredibly stupid. It wasn't the stupidest cartoon show of the era. Or even the creepiest.

Behold: The Nightmare Fuel that was Turbo Teen!

I've probably seen every episode. Twice.
