    Unbelievable American Wins!

Some observations from my recent travels:

    - Practically no one in San Fran wears a tie!

    - National parks!

    - New York and its entire subway system rocks.

    - Central park!

    - Shake shack, whom i'm convinced includes crack as an ingredient in their food

    - You created this:

    - While we're on the topic of flights, your air-hostesses and hostees don't seem to be determined and discriminated against as much by their appearance as on Australian flights: by which i mean in australia it is an employment condition that you are 20-40 year olds with an entire make-up store on your face and a subscription to botox-weekly. Who knew, an industry in america that involves less cosmetics and surgery than elsewhere.

    - You seem to have no problem using morbidly obese people in customer facing roles (a win for the morbidly obese)

    - I do think you have the coolest national anthem. By far.

    - You really are at the center of the universe.

The Schuylkill (I gotta go kayaking on it some day. )

Fall, and maple syrup (real stuff, of course.)

    Really big trees.

Stabby hurty trees (actually more related to lilies, than trees, but they look like trees).

    Furry bandits.

A general culture that doesn't see mediocrity and fitting into some class based culture as the greatest adornment to life and the embodiment of success ala Britain/Australia/New Zealand.

Yeah, that's actually a pretty big one. It alone is enough to make me consider overlooking most of america's flaws and moving there...

    - You've got a general spirit of "well, lets do it/give it a shot"...

    - You actually have a freedom loving aspect to your culture and an interesting philosophy of government, even if its not always universally followed...

    - The wealthy actually do give something back to the community in a lot of places. The degree of this seems practically unfathomable coming from Australian culture. Part of it might just be the age of the nation (america vs Australia), and that you're the dominant power, but the number of bequeaths and public resources in places like new york is phenomenal.

    You get this:

    Rock and roll/the Blues.

Skyscrapers. (Asia has taller ones, but we invented them).

Probably not that impressive to anyone else, but I learned that Philadelphia's city hall was, from 1901-1908, the tallest building in the world. Aparently, it's still the tallest masonry building. If you've ever seen the Sixth Sense, this is where he sees the hangings.

Don't worry, ACow. Some day Australia will produce great music too like rock n roll, blues or jazz.

Wait. What are you doing? Get that fucking didgeridoo out of your mouth.

    David Wong, regarding Chicago
Six centuries ago, the pre-Colombian natives who settled here named this region with a word which in their language means "the Mouth of Shadow". Later, the Iroquois who showed up and inexplicably slaughtered every man, woman and child renamed it "Seriously, Fuck that Place". When French explorer Jacques Marquette passed through the area he marked his map with a drawing of a brownish blob emerging from between the Devil's buttocks.
