No, wait. You're right. I can't hate you. See? I suck at this, too.

31,000 in the test in the OP. Puts me in the 70th percentile for my age. Suppose that's not bad.

The way I answered it was not necessarily if I could think of a definition for the word, but if I could think of a sentence where it would be correctly used. If I'd gone strictly by definition as they had instructed my score would have been a bit lower. Some of the words I recalled seeing at some point but couldn't recall the context, so I left them as unknowns.

26,900 on the second test. I wonder what the maximum possible score is for that one. There were two words that I really didn't know, and one I was unsure of, but for the most part I felt like I knew everything.

Looking at their FAQ, I believe the highest score for the second one is only 30000. I'm also not sure it they mean something different in their tabulations than the first one because the first test speaks of words, the second test of word families. I don't know if they mean words with multiple definitions as families--conjugations included--or if they are looking at something larger than that.
Every master plan has one overarching contingency that will be required for success: desenrascanço. In light of this, it is tempting to skip the planning phase and just make desenrascanço your master plan. I don't recommend this, but it has worked out for me in the past to an alarming degree. The problem is it keeps you too focused on the short term to ever improve your situation in the long.

I got 29600 on the second test. Didn't see any word I didn't understand, though there was a degree of interpretation in some.

    Second result: 44,600

Spoiler: This is what happened when
I checked every word but terpsichorean and answered section 3 accurately.

I noticed that as well, and perhaps that's where I lost some points.

34000 on the first, only 23,800 on the second (seems low to me, I might have rushed too much - I think there were 4 I said I didn't know - I believed I knew all the rest but might have misclicked a few).

I trust a wrong guess is more punative than "I don't know" so misclicks would be costly.
