    it's not you, obviously. Sounds like she's unfairly taking out her frustrations
    Yeah, I guess. Her reaction was just very shocking to me. Then 10 mins. later she's joking and laughing with another co-worker and still seems to be giving me a stink eye every time she walks past my desk. Sometimes I wonder if I say things with a shitty tone without realizing it.

    Couldn't make it through the first ten seconds.
    I'm not surprised. Men usually find high-pitched voice irritating. I find her work thought-provoking than anything. I like that she attacked the trope I am finding myself getting weary of. Confirmation bias maybe, but still relevant.
    We cling to our past as if they define us. What we do defines us.

    I can relate, believe me. I just don't dwell on it because it serves no purpose. I've spent my whole life ignoring pain.

    and what you now ardently desire will one day become the object of abhorrence.

    I shouldn't say I've spent my whole life ignoring pain. I should say I've spent my whole life avoiding it. Pretty soon, you start to avoid pleasure as well. Comes with the territory.

    I was put in a precarious position as a child - I am much much smarter than my father. People learn from their fathers. My father is a very temperamental person and acts out of emotion, not reason which is how I operate. This caused me to be dysfunctional, and as a result, a social outcast. Its a theory at least.

    @Mxx

    I appreciate that.
    Too bad, Lady Une. You were far too lenient.
    As a soldier, yes. But as a civilian I lived an austere life.

    On chocolate: I have often considered visiting a hypnotherapist to see if I can convince my brain that vegetables taste like chocolate. But then can you imagine if that backfired and I thought all chocolate tasted like vegetables? The horror of a life without chocolate.
