    Forum Chess

Just wondering if folks would be interested in playing a collaborative chess-based game on here.

I say chess-based because to partially combat the use of chess engines, I'd propose a straightforward chess variant to render them less useful. Options would be something like Bughouse chess, alternative dimension chess (e.g., 9x9, etc.), or maybe someone has suggestions. We can change variants as we go along if there's interest.

You'd play as a group and publicly discuss/vote on a move. First bold move would be final. Turn ends when all active players have voted or a day passes. The move with a plurality of votes (ties randomly chosen from by me) would be played.

At the moment, just wondering if there's interest or not. Playing as a group means there should be a mix of abilities so beginners shouldn't be shy ... might also be a fun way to learn.

    What do you say?

I know that @MoneyJungle and @Makers!* are chess players...

not sure that my enthusiasm is constructive here so I'll refrain from more @'s

    Enthusiasm welcome!

Just to emphasise, the chess variants have the same rules of normal chess ... knowing the rules of plain ol' chess is more than sufficient to join ... no need for experience playing one particular variant or another.

I'm a duffer but I've watched Searching for Bobby Fischer several times. Sign me up!

Glimpses do ye seem to see of that mortally intolerable truth; that all deep, earnest thinking is but the intrepid effort of the soul to keep the open independence of her sea; while the wildest winds of heaven and earth conspire to cast her on the treacherous, slavish shore?

I'll play. I love games that involve strategery. My grandpa taught me how to play regular chess. I don't know any variants.
