    ArToJem Constructed Dozenal Number System

I had a couple of hours the other day, so I finally put this together. It's been kicking around in my head for a while.

I wanted to design a base-twelve number system using its own characters to make it easier to distinguish from base-10. I used simplified astronomical symbols because they already exist as a dozen. It's not totally pat - Pisces got left out. Also gemini wound up as numeral 3 instead of 2, but that's because the year fucking starts in the spring (ie, Aries) and anyone who thinks otherwise is dumb.

    Names with decimal equivalents:
    0 - Nun
    1 - Ar
    2 - To
    3 - Jem
    4 - Can
    5 - Lo
    6 - Vir
    7 - Lib
    8 - Sco
    9 - Saj
    10 - Cap
    11 - Qua

    12 - Duz
    13 - Duzara
    14 - Duzto
    15 - Duzjema
    16 - Duzcana
    17 - Duzlo
    18 - Duzvira
    19 - Duzliba
    20 - Duzsco
    21 - Duzsaja
    22 - Duzcapa
    23 - Duzqua

    24 - Toduza
    25 - Toduzara
    26 - Toduzto
    etc

    36 - Jemduza
    48 - Canduza
    60 - Loduza
    72 - Virduza
    84 - Libduza
    96 - Scoduza
    108 - Sajduza
    120 - Capduza
    132 - Quaduza
    144 - Grossa

    1728 - Grossamagna

Emphasis generally on the first syllable.

is that the beginnings of a conlang I smell? it looks awesome!!

I have a base-8 system for one of my more developed conlangs where the symbols used are also binary (the spoken language can also be analyzed as base-4):
    http://malhalla.conlang.org/berlean/...-conjunctions/

And then one of my other, older conlangs uses a base-7 system based on subtracting where the symbols are flowers; 0 being a flower with six petals and 6 being a flower with no petals. Though, I recently did a complete overhaul of the language to make it more alien/artistic, so I don't have much published on it at the moment:

I had a lot of other crazy number systems made in the past, but I never really fleshed out those languages enough lol :P those two mentioned above are my main/fav ones XD

The one the other will contain
    With ease—and You—beside—
The Brain is deeper than the sea—
    For—hold them—Blue to Blue—
The one the other will absorb—

Very cool! I love the writing system of the first one, very elegant.

I don't think this one will go beyond the number system, primarily because that's its entire raison d'etre. There's no backstory, no evolution. There's no reason for a base-twelve number system to be based on pre-existing astrological signs other than that I willed it so. But I do intend to have fun doing some basic arithmetic with it.
