    Respond to Unpopular Opinions

I originally was going to post the thread title in this thread because it so fun to do that when I realized it might deserve its own thread. Quote the unpopular opinion then give your rebuttal. The giver of the unpopular opinion doesn't have to defend they position if they don't want.

Did you know that Ghandi beat his wife, and was a racist? He really should have been assassinated sooner. Anyways, fuck Ghandi, is what I'm trying to say.

Yeah it's true. Penn and Teller made a great episode about it. And in addition to beating his wife and being racist he also loved sleeping with naked young girls and loved to give them enemas.

I'm pretty ambivalent about the whole idea of marriage. I agree that the traditional vows and so forth are rather sexist, but a lot of couples rewrite the vows. Apart from that, there's the whole marriage industry around dresses, ceremonies, engagements, rings that I find rather excessive and unnecessary. Evidently, a lot of people still believe in the idea of a fairytale wedding, which seems odd. It just seems like it becomes an excessive headache and source of anxiety for some people.

I might be down for a simple ceremony at some point in my life, though, maybe...

Just because you date someone long-term doesn't mean you have to immediately commit to marrying them. It's funny how people think that way, but then, I've been guilty of it, too. Don't worry about things far-off.

If you're worried about people "liking" you for other things, and not you, maybe try concealing or hiding those other things?

I like old people. They're wrong about some things, but they're interesting to listen to.

In the not-too-distant future I will be an old person, and I like myself.
