    Test your pitch perception

For those who failed @kali's colour perception test, here's your chance to redeem yourselves.

    or not.

Apparently I'm blind and deaf. To be fair both my ear drums have ruptured multiple times.

    Pitch test: low-normal
Tone deaf test: 58.3% low-normal performance

    Unsurprised really...

    9.6 Hz

    Normal = 6 Hz
    Low-Normal = 12 Hz

So left shoulder of Bell Mountain summit.

The site has had 11K+ samples and I'm listed in the 5th. percentile. Not very encouraging but I'm sure many of the folks seeking to take this test are tone-gifted.

I'm messing up on this test right at the beginning... not because I can't tell the difference, but because I keep wanting to press the left button for the first sound, and the right button for the second.

This is going to require some concentration just to make sure I press the correct buttons.

I can reliably distinguish differences of 1.2Hz apparently.. I was going more for speed than accuracy though. Maybe I should try harder?

Ok... I managed to get through the test without pressing the wrong buttons.

On the pitch test I scored 2.7.
On the tonedeaf test I got 80.6% correct - just barely in the very good range.

The first attempt 3. The second attempt after I found the repeat sound button 1,35. Repeating the sound when I was uncertain made quite a difference. For some reason it's easier for me to hear a slight difference when the second sound is lower than when it's higher.

Tone deaf test: 83.3% Correct. I think I'll try to do this one quicker at some point. My brain interfered and started thinking too much.

These were interesting, thank you @Sappho. I'll probably play with these every now and then to see whether my results differ depending on the time of the day and how tired I am.

I'm going to do this after I get home using my extremely expensive noise cancelling headphones, which I bring up because I can't help but wonder if the environment/speaker/headphone setup isn't as important to the results of the test as one's innate abilities.

    Edit:
    3.3Hz
    70 percent

And I can't blame the equipment, ha.

It asked me if I was menopausal after. Presumably because of my age. I googled to see why. Apparently I can look forward to significant hearing loss as I progress through cycle senescence.
In the tonedeaf test, I found I was completely unsure about pretty much all of them if my eyes were open, but if I closed my eyes, differences seemed to jump out. I have to close my eyes to see if my banjo is in tune too. Maybe I should try playing with my eyes closed.

I want @stigmatica to take it. He has more musical talent in his pinky than I have in my whole self, so I'm curious how he'll do.
