I'd have done better if I were not buzzed. Plus I only realized you could backspace/fix during the latter half of the trial.

Got 34 WPM...but I would probably do better on a proper keyboard. My laptop keys are ridiculously sensitive...making double letters all the time...and it's slightly smaller in scale, I think...though I've never compared it in size to a full keyboard. It does feel more cramped though, subjectively. All that being said, I don't think I'd kill much more than 45 WPM.

I'm curious what my wife's speed is. I definitely can't even think as fast as she types...but I love the sound of her tapping away...sounds like it's raining. When I type it's like someone periodically tapping their fingers on a table...little bursts of coordination couched between pauses for word consideration.

    usually in the 80 range

When I was a teen I tried to practise by typing out the picture of dorian gray. Here's the website I used: http://www.sense-lang.org/typing/tut...=EN&lesson=200

    I love that damn website!!

This allows for some interesting cultural observations:

    Lower INTPx average, I suppose.

Compared to English speakers (in which 463 keystrokes is better than ~96.5% per cent), Germans seem to be slightly more efficient at this tedious task (surprise surprise) – a higher number of keystrokes, but a slightly lower percentile.

Out of the languages sampled, the Hungarian and the Spanish-speaking people seem to be the most laid-back – even more so than the Italians (whose bureaucracy might account for the slight edge in proficient typing).

NB. The last three scores are markedly lower because of the accents/special characters not readily available on the QWERTZ keyboard used.

80 wpm, but on this annoying sticky laptop computer. Will try the proper keyboard at work and see if it is any better.
