Not sure if this helps but I'm on Windows 8 and miss the old, simple, pre-app Windows. You're not a Mac dammit!

After reading about all the spyware/bloatware on the other thread, I'm going to say no. Win10 seems to be the biggest software trojan horse of all time. As some people have commented, no wonder they are giving it away.

It sounds to me like Microsoft has gone the direction of Google in regards to consumer technology. It's free, because you are the product (via data mining, advertising, etc).

Yep. This OS isn't designed for the needs of the user, but to serve the needs of Microsoft.

Depends on what you use your computer for. Direct X 12 will not be supported on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1, so if you are into framerates, that will be a big deal. Older multi-core computers are going to see the biggest differences in performance between 11 and 12.

If you do decide to upgrade, check to make sure drivers for your peripherals have already been written...some companies are lagging. i.e. Brother is not going to have drivers for some of their older printers until December.

But you won't see Gains from Directx 12 till probably a while after that:

I would wait and let the privacy/antispy community utilities catch up.
Here's a good example of one I've used on and off for a while, but hasn't been updated since 7: http://xp-antispy.org/en/

Gotta take to all settings and delete a couple of files via cmd admin:
This link will help. Follow it all and you're good to go with windows 10. I'm enjoying it so far. Much better than windows 8.1.

The funny thing is, I'm basically trying to get it to behave back like it was under 7.

If you've got 8, its a no-brainer, purely because the short amount of time i had with 8 was an exercise in frustration at my inability to put my computer back quite the way I wanted it without third party programs.

The problem with 10 is that it is basically set up by default to be an ad-serving and data mining platform, which means that you've got to spend a good 30 minutes or so turning all the settings off and swithing things around to where they should be. And I'm guess in a month or two, there will be another bunch of settings that it turns out i've complete missed on my first pass...

Its nice enough on a day to day experience once you've got all the stuff ironed out, but I say that cause we aren't at a stage where I can ditch microsoft. I don't forget I'm a prisoner of circumstance...
