What name would you get today? (In the US)

    http://time.com/3856405/baby-name-popularity/

So you enter your first name, gender, and the year of the birth. Then the site finds the popularity rank of that name (in the United States) for your birth year, and returns the equivalently popular name from this year.

You also get results for each decade going back to 1890.

E.g. apparently if born today with similarly trendy parents I would be named Jayden.

I'm... remarkably unsurprised by this, having long felt that I must have one of the most generic names on the planet. (Apparently the 15th most popular baby name in 1983, combined with one of the more common American surnames, particularly in the region where I grew up.)

In 1890 I would have been named Clarence.

In contrast, my son's name was 818th in popularity for his birth year. Actually it's a common Scandinavian name but fairly rare in the US, since I wanted him to have a real name (not some hippie bullshit like "North" or "River" or "Snickers" or whatever), but I thought it should be something fairly unique--not just be one more kid named fucking Jayden Brayden Cayden Madison Jackson Anderson-Johnson.

Accordingly, the 2015 popularity equivalent of his name is apparently "Dandre". I gather that must be from some place with a small immigrant contingent currently in the US--for 1980 we get "Rasheem" and for 1930 "Claudio."

Oh, but in 1910 it says I would have named him "Bronislaus." (Uh... Poland? Maybe? It sounds vaguely Polish, right? LOL)

Hell, I might have named him that anyway if I'd been aware that "Bronislaus" was an actual name.

Noah is today's most popular boy baby's name!? Is there some Noah(s) that a lot of new parents admire - that Russel Crowe character?

Mason. What the heck are these breeders thinking?!

Glimpses do ye seem to see of that mortally intolerable truth; that all deep, earnest thinking is but the intrepid effort of the soul to keep the open independence of her sea; while the wildest winds of heaven and earth conspire to cast her on the treacherous, slavish shore?
