I'm not reading this, but there's a new MBTI book out.

I just read this book Creativity Inc. It's written by the guy who is in charge of the Pixar film company about the process he took to create an optimum environment for 'creativity' at Pixar.

I found this book really good. I realised it's quite a lot about management, which maybe sounds boring, but maybe that's ignorance of what they actually have to do. The guy writing it comes across as very likeable, very wise, and it's nice to tap into his thoughts.

i thought this was pretty whatevz til it got to the more practical parts about restructuring your life (home, work, relationships) and redefining self-image. those parts were excellent.

i rated this 5/5 on goodreads.

    Candide, by Voltaire. Enjoyable.

I've read an insomnia book recently meant for therapists in forming a CBTi plan. Mostly review in my case, but I enjoyed the no-nonsense succinct format. It felt as though nothing was wasted. By contrast the other book I had pulled from the library alongside it was filled with fluff, irrelevant stock photo graphics, too large a font and wasted space.

Went through a few Tom Sharpe books in quick succession and boy does that guy like fat ladies. The setup involves some aloof, neurotic do-gooder out-of-towner, either as protagonist or side-character) who finds himself at some point utterly sexually obsessed with a fat lady despite his (and others) judging her physically unattractive. In one case, she's also stupid. Only in the last book I picked up was the variation of this fat lady a shrewd one. The neurotic guy always has his life ruined. I recall that in Porterhouse Blue those characters mostly had fuck-all to do with the rest of the book and were killed in an explosion as a result of trying to float a bunch of condoms out of a chimney.
