This is generally my post workout drink:

Apperently though, alchohol inhibits whatever it is that helps your body create muscle, so I guess I could be, like, 10 times stronger than am now... Oh well.

If you get shitfaced enough that your body is desperately metabolizing alcohol, it can be a problem. A couple drinks isn't really going to have the same effect.

The effects on cortisol are probably the more pertinent ones- a couple drinks might be good for relaxation, twelve mudslides not so much.

This is good to know. I read a couple articles that warned against even small amounts of alcohol, and the fighters at my gym seem particulary uptight about it in the months leading up to a bout, and I understand their on edge, but also there's examples like Martin Strel, who drank two bottles of wine everyday he was swimming the Amazon fucking River, and that there ameliorates most of my concerns. If he can do that, I think I'll be fine.

Well, if you're training to be a competitive athlete, I think you want any edge you can get. Alcohol isn't great for a variety of reasons, mainly because it's extra calories, estrogenic etc.

I eat competitive athletes for breakfast and then shit them out 3-5 days later in a series of dry heaves that would make Elvis proud.

matcha, my chickens' eggs, blueberries, yogurt, salmon + swimming 3 - 4 times a week, if exercise counts

that's about it. taking tablets or vitamins actually makes me feel really sick.

oh yeah, i tried flaxseed once and it fucked up my gut.

You got off lucky, I had to eat a plate of pig liver in gravy and onion (which still didn't stop it from being super dry and scraping down my throat) at least once per week.
    Apparently I needed the iron.

I really liked liver! Never had pig liver though, mainly just cow's liver done in a batter. We should have swapped childhoods.

heh, imagine that if you grew up like how I grew up and I grew up how like you grew up, I wonder what we'd be like.
