    Paintings

I mostly paint regular pet portraits like this:

But people are strange and sometimes I get to do something a little more unusual such as this GQ posing kitten:

And sometimes I get to do something really wonderful and wacky like this:

Yes, someone paid me to paint her cat in a suit of armor riding her dog (like a horse).

    lol!

That dog is really good. I like the expression you captured in her eyes.
Yes, I smell like a horse. No, I don't consider that a problem.

Thanks! I never had a dog but having painted a lot of them, I now understand the phrase "puppy dog eyes." They so often look like they are absolutely smitten with their owners.
Cats, on the other hand, look kind of dead in the eyes. Like they are staring into space. (I prefer cats as pets. They are just harder to paint.)

Here is the latest just finished last night:

    Nice to "see" you too!

Here's another painting from this year. Pretty much the only one from 2013 that's not a commission but an image I chose to make for myself. I have several similar works in mind. Maybe I'll get around to them this year.

Funny how we look at the eyes first and stranger that you/painters can capture the look with a light reflection. Like your work a lot.

Yeah, that light reflection is really important. I add it in whether it's there in the source photos or not. The light reflection brings it life.

Another odd point. When I'm painting a pet portrait, I know it is done when I can "smell" the animal... that is, when my mind buys the illusion, I actually smell the dog or cat.

Wow! Your proportions are perfect. Almost at photo-realism. What kind of paint do you use?
This just in: I'm accepting all friend requests too unless you're a fricken jerk and I can't stand your existence and inane drivel. If that's the case, then I'll accept your friend request so I can keep an eye on your ass unless you don't hold any interest for me; then only the threat of keeping my eye on you stands. feces
