thread for people who don't use the internet anymore

companion to the quitting smoking thread: quitting the internet. except not really, because yeah right.

as of tomorrow, I'm going to limit my "fun" computer time use to 30 minutes max. 60 minutes will be allowed for work-related internet. I'll shift the rest of my work responsibilities to paper (ie, use notebooks and pens and print things).

post here if you want to monitor/limit/reshape your computer time too.

At least INTPx isn't "fun" time, it's a lifestyle, like tattoos and tanning.

I was just thinking this while looking at my kindle earlier, sitting on a pile of unread books.

And here I was, wishing they'd come up with bionic eyes already so I could have online content fed directly into my optical nerves.

Move to an area where Internet is not available. Topple the power grid. Compulsion will rule you unless decisive action is taken.

Dot, I've been wanting to do the same thing, just haven't been sure how to start. Installed Rescue Time. Bought an old fashioned word processor typewriter. Thought about answering every FB message with a handwritten postcard.

I don't use social media, because I refuse to allow my internet experience to become some vile yet trivial bizarre pseudo social monster.

I never thought the internet, which used to be my free space, where I was anonymous, would destroy any vestige of privacy I had. Social media brings out the worst in people.

I will rant in my blog one day....my resentment is muti-faceted, and borders on rage.

It's like those people that tell everyone they don't own a tv but they still watch everything on another device.
