Gym Attire for Men and Women

What do you wear? I often see men wear what I consider attention seeking, off putting gym clothing. A neighbor is one of them and not only does he seek attention by his choice in clothing, if you're sitting near him during cycle class, his sweat will find its way onto you. Dude, seriously wear something on your head.

Nike should release a range of workout burkas for men.

I guess gym guys like to exhibit the results of all their hard work by taking off their shirts at every opportunity. It's kind of pathetic/adorable, like your dog presenting you with the rotting possum you buried in the backyard a year ago which he spent all afternoon digging up. Gotta act impressed so you don't hurt his feelings.

As absurd as it all is, it's fun to look at human behaviour through an anthropological lens: males peacocking and establishing dominance, and females being impressed / repulsed / amused by such displays. Also, the eye candy is nice.

I always feel very underdressed at the gym, but that might be a Vancouver thing. Gym wear is high fashion here and some people take it very seriously.

What's attention-seeking gym attire for men look like? The same form-fitting bottoms and tanks that most women wear?

I go to the gym in crappy old t-shirts and running shorts. I see a lot of women in booty shorts at my gym.
