The Free Will thread makes me more attuned to deterministic song lyrics. "There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be."

Been looking at getting a phone replacement. I've had a Nexus 6P for 2 and a half years or so, and the battery is virtually dead. I have to charge it about 3 times a day.

I'm thinking about Huaweii Mate 10 Pro. Looks beastly, and a lot cheaper than getting a Pixel 2 XL, which just looks to me luge Google trying to be Apple. And there's just no way I'm paying that much.

Anyone else got experience with these? I know they're very knew. Mine was manufactured by Hauweii and apart from the battery, I've always loved it. Anyone I know with a newer model by them has a P8.

The LG V20 is a decent phone. It's also the last phone that still has a replacable battery. Every other phone released after it has non user replaceable batteries. So in a year when the battery is starting to lose capacity you can just replace it with a new one and save yourself the cost of getting a new phone.

I think its really stupid how every phone manufacturer has ditched user replacable batteries. They don't design phone batteries to have as many charge cycles as possible, they design them to have as much capacity as possible. So they're essentially forcing you to buy a brand new phone because they used an inferior battery that you can't easily replace.

That's like honda selling you a car with a really huge oil tank, and after 10,000 miles you have to buy a new car because you can't just change the oil on it.

It's a decent phone, but quite similar to what I've got, really. And the battery life is the only reason I need to replace it. I think I could get the phone repair guy at the market to replace the battery, even if I need to buy the part myself it's not that much. Might check with him, as I planned on keeping the phone for a bit longer otherwise.

But a Mate 10 Pro does look really cool.

Fortunately, you can recharge a smartphone battery with only 110 pounds of potatoes, making for a good mobile solution if you want to become sherpa-certified at the same time.
