    Modern Board Gaming

Just wondering if there are any other board game fans out there.

Here is my top 10 list

    1. Tales of Arabian Nights
    2. Robinson Crusoe: Adventures Cursed Island
    3. Dungeons Dragons (3.5e) [It's an Tabletop/Pen and Papper RPG, however, this is its place on my list of favorite Tabletop Games]
    4. Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective
    5. Dead of Winter
    6. Letters from Whitechapel
    7. DC Comics: Deck-Building Game
    8. Risk Legacy
    9. T.I.M.E. Stories
    10. Zombicide: Black Plague

And for there collector/nostalgic value (I.E there personal collector value to myself)

    13. Monopoly I've collected nearly 50 different sets.
    14. Chess I still love playing, and I am starting collecting Fantasy and Nerd culture chess pieces.

Is there anyone else here that is enjoying the emerging Board Game/Tabletop Hobby. If so what, what are some of your favorite Games.

If you want to learn more about the hobby and the thousands of new games check out the website Board Game Geek

    Yes.

I like Carcassone. I once stayed up almost all night playing it with a friend.

Settlers of Catan (Cities & Knights; Traders & Barbarians are my fave expansions)
Dominion and its myriad of expansions
    Ticket to Ride
    7 Wonders
    Splendor
    CodeNames
    Exploding Kittens

I try to get into cooperative games (ex: Pandemic), but I haven't found one engrossing yet. Don't play games nearly as much as I used to, due to changing life circumstances. We have a game called ASHES that we were gifted at Christmas that we haven't played (or even learned how) yet.

Haven't played a lot since I moved to the UK but we used to play a lot of Dominion, Carcasonne, Alhambra and Ticket to Ride. Dominion, especially. It's one of the few games that we played where the playing field was at least a bit leveled, and I could beat my roommate at least some of the time.

I think my favorite board games of late have been Pandemic, Cosmic Encounter and Zombicide. I most recently picked up The Others just for the esthetic of the game, I'm not sure on how it plays yet.

RPGs I don't really count in the same category as board games, but I've played a great many.

    Go.

    [Edit]

I played a game with a foreight exchange student who stayed at our house for about 3 weeks. I thought we were playing Go, but we were really playing Gomoku.

Either game will be great fun for 2 people.

But your individuality and your present need will be swept away by change,
and what you now ardently desire will one day become the object of abhorrence.

    ^ @QuickTwist

thanks, i used to play go when i was younger. i'm asking about more "modern" games though and not ones that are more traditional. i'm planning on visiting a board game cafe and don't really know which games are good for two people, as most of them seem suited for groups? i'm fine with that, but don't have a group rn.
