I sometimes wonder if it only really appeals to people with a working class background, or people who always got along with working class people. Kind of like the American version of Shameless (not the UK one), I feel at home with the chaos of that family.

There's a lot of really dark social and political commentary in that show, but treated with humor. That's the way working class families deal with the hand they've been dealt: humor and resilience.

I like the show, but don't really like any of the characters on the show as people, except maybe Charlie. Even though most of the characters are unlikable they're fun to watch. I think it's mostly because their schemes never work out. If things tended to work out for them I don't think I would like the show. Basically I like watching everything go wrong for them.

Anyway, this is one of the moments I find the funniest:

    ^ Classic

I loved the Flowers for Charlie episode (which I believe was written by Game of Thrones guys).

The dark humor sells it for me.

I cracked at Dennis' "I can't handle it" reaction when I first saw this -

"All my heroes are dead" - John Zorn

"It's not selfish if you hate yourself"

Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person is another classic.

The moment when Dennis' taunting finally gets into her head:

I could be a man with a fist full of hammers, and a trunk full of duck tape and zip ties, I mean, this guy doesn't know me. Is he crazy?
