My cervix hurts just skimming this thread. Are the IUDs painful?

I use the pill. I take it also to regulate my period and it helps with the pain I get. I just take them all at once. I have a timer set on my phone so I don't forget. I also take other medication daily so it's not hard for me to remember. I'm hesitant on something inserted into my body in case something gets fucked up.

Condoms for casual stuff. Currently in a monogamous relationship so we bareback it.

Uses the pill, regulates period, helps with pain - takes them all at once - timer set, other medications, hesitant on IUDs, condoms for casual, bareback

Did I walk into slam poetry night at intpx?

And no, iud didn't hurt at all. Not even during insertion. However I was six weeks post partum at the time so my experience isn't typical. The little device to pull your vag walls open hurt like a motherfucker for a hot second though.

I thought the IUD hurt a lot when it was first put in - as in it hurt so much I felt like I was going to pass out - but the pain wore off pretty quickly.

What freaked me out was the paranoia. I would get mild cramps at random times. I never knew if it was just going to be spotting (obnoxious in itself), a stomach ache, the beginnings of a perforation or ectopic pregnancy...?

Now I have the rod and it's much better. I had no periods for like six months, then irregular, sometimes heavy bleeding. Now my menstruation is almost normal, but on the light side. However, both my sister and my cousin tried it but got it taken out because they had heavy, continuous bleeding.

    So..... Fuckin' unpredictable birth control...

^Also I would assume that "the pills" in question are all of her daily meds.

Ah, I was editing and forgot to add an integral sentence. I take other meds daily so it's not a big deal to add one extra pill. I do have a timer in the event that my day gets messed up so I don't forget.

Getting the IUD put in was painful. And I had a lot of cramping for a few days afterwards. (I had never given birth before, which at the time was highly recommended before getting an IUD). After that... no pain at all. I think I’m supposed to be getting mine replaced soon... because it is so old. I’m a little worried about that.

I have the copper one. It has made my periods heavier and last longer. But I didn’t have heavy ones before... and I absolutely cannot handle hormonal birth control, so it’s worth it. I tried several different BC pills and all of them made me feel like shit. Sluggish, depressed, absolutely killed my sex drive. Never again.

I was kind of freaked out about that, but they didn't kill my sex drive. What they do is give me headaches, though, if I take them at the wrong time of day.
