I once had a sofa bed (not a very good one) when I lived in a one room apartment and hated it. The bars that supported the frame were under my back and it was uncomfortable. Might have just been this crappy unit though. Still, I would avoid sofa beds.

Futon's seem fine for a night or two, but I have only experienced them while visiting, long term might be an issue. I would find adding/removing sheets daily (if that is your plan) to be more inconvenient than the loss of space for a bed.

I don't use my bedroom for much other than sleeping and clothes storage these days, so any saved space in there would be pointless. A bed is the best option in this case.

Sometimes I sleep on the floor. I don't know why and I don't really notice any differences between that and sleeping on my bed. I like having a large bed even though these days it's just me and my cat. Something about all that space to stretch out or whatever makes me feel like I'm living high on the hog.
