    when I get home in the evening I like to sit outside under the sky and read a book until it gets dark. Usually there are some nice cloud formations happening, and this looks west, so you see the sunset. Thick of summer, so it's constantly warm and nice.

    When I'm out here I feel like I get nostalgia towards memories of the cycling trip I did, spending most nights outside. It fills me with some happy feelings.

    Most evenings look a bit like this. Sky filled up red for a while.

    @scarydoor @kari

    People may call me crazy, but I believe that colours/sunsets are genuinely different down here.

    There's some genuine support for this. The earth's population, pollution, particulate and landmass is not even vaguely uniformly distributed between the hemispheres.

    Anyway, yes, one of my favourite things is also to sit and watch the afternoon clouds and sunsets into the evening. I swear like 50% of the time it lights up quite nicely...

    @ACow--those maps make emmigration look nice. But then I remember the spiders. And the syphilitic koalas. Not that I'm going to have sex with koalas. It's just a data point.
    Most of time, when people ask why something terrible happened, they don't realize they are looking for someone to blame.

    Yeah--the next thing on my list of cons was "mostly a hellscape wasteland punctuated by jungles and swamp".

    But I'd still rather go there than Detroit. Or Africa. Or India. Or anywhere that ends in -stan.

    But then, that's a given given Australia is on the list of places I'd voluntarily visit.

    I musta watched too much McLeod's Daughters because my impression is it's mainly rolling empty grasslands punctuated with pretty girls on horses wearing Akubras and cowboy boots.
