From Futurama - Godfellas: (season 3 episode 20)
    http://www.imsdb.com/transcripts/Fut...Godfellas.html
    GOD
Bender, being God isn't easy, if you
do too much, people get dependent. And
if you do nothing, they lose hope. You
have to use a light touch, like a safecracker
    or a pickpocket.

    BENDER
Or a guy who burns down the bar for
    the insurance money.

    GOD
Yes, if you make it look like an electrical
thing. When you do things right, people
won't be sure you've done anything at
    all.

I got an email from the pastor about the 3 songs:

Song 1 - The Servant Song:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdmgpMfnjdU

Song 3 - I am the Bread of Life
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CRMbh8ViUI

And also the song that I didn't find meaningful - a song that I remember talking about a "wretch". It was:

Song 2 - How Deep the Father's Love
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW7LLuUQqkU

It is song 635 in 2014's "All Together All Right":
    http://www.robinmann.com.au/Songs-Al...t-pg28015.html

    The lyrics are:
"How deep the Father's love for us
    How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure"

The first two lines are repeated in the Good Friday email about my sister's dream.

After talking about the dream she wrote:
Keep sharing what God is doing and any questions,
concerns, prayer requests or curiosities you might have. I
am always here for you! How much more Jesus!!!
I love you and Jesus and your Heavenly Father love you so
    ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
    ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
    ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooo much!!! There wouldnt be enough space in this
email if I emphasised how much! Truth is, I cant even fathom
it, cos its more than all the sands on the sea shore if you
were to count them!! So great is His love for YOU!!!
    God bless you bountifully,
    [sister 1] and Jesus, Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxx........to be continued.......FOREVER!!!
So she was talking about the Father loving me a lot - "beyond all measure".
My other sister has written two books about the incredibly deep love of God the Father. The blurb begins "No one on this earth will ever fully grasp just how deep and rich the heart of the Father is towards them."

So the second song, which I thought was quite insignificant has some significance too.

The second song from the Maundy Thursday dinner, "How Deep the Father's Love For Us" played at the church I normally go to. I remembered part of the song I was going to mention but had forgotten - "Ashamed I hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers". This has been true of me to some degree.

At the moment at work there is my boss, his wife, an admin lady, sometimes her husband and sometimes my boss's children and son in law. I am a web programmer and there are 4 programmers from the Philippines. There used to be an on and off programmer who went to the boss's church but lately has been going to my church. He now drives school buses and owns a fish and chip shop. There is a husband and wife who work next door and they go to my church too. I'm not friends on Facebook with that programmer but I saw he liked to dress up as a Lego figure and told him I liked that.

Anyway tonight the programmer wasn't there so I talked to a guest who was from Gideon's bibles. I asked him about problems with science and the bible. Anyway a guy who I'd never met before asked the guy about that programmer! I said I knew him and he has known him since he was a kid! I said he was a better programmer than me and wondered why he quit since it can be a high paying job. The programmer is a creationist and so is another programmer who used to work at my work for a short time. Then I found out that the programmer had invited the church to his fish and chip shop tonight for free food! If I hadn't had talked to that Gideon guy I probably wouldn't have found out about that offer.

Anyway I thought that was significant. I still am doubtful mainstream Christianity is true

I told my boss's wife that the lady who works next door goes to my church. (the only person who works nearby that I meet) She said she hasn't been to church recently because two of her sons are gay (and the church would disapprove). I said the OT is clearly against it (saying that those who have gay sex should be put to death). She talked about the NT being against divorce and we agreed that Christians pick and choose. That fish and chip shop owning former programmer used to go to her church and knows her sons. When I was hospitalised years ago I thought for a short time that maybe there were some conspiracies going on related to me. Now I think it is weird how these church-related things are connected. BTW I think my boss's old church is really big while the night services of my church are fairly small (about 40-50 people?)

On the topic of old-earth creationism / theistic evolution, I've come across this: (I believe that maybe there was an intelligent force helping with evolution - maybe the future interacting with the past)
    http://createdevolution.blogspot.com.au/
    https://carm.org/secular-movements/e...-improbability

As a former Young Earth Creationist (YEC) I was impressed with this tract:
    http://www.oldearth.org/tract.html

I shared it with a YEC "friend" on Facebook. He believes the universe is 6000 years old and is critical of mainstream astronomy (e.g. our theories of how the moon formed) and evolution. Maybe he has some points though I think he is wrong about the age of the universe.

Tonight at church a guy I used to work with called Daniel was there. Lately he had been going to the 9am service so I hadn't seen him for a month or two. We talked a bit before church started. Then he sat next to another guy called Daniel who he was connected with through a school they both had worked at.

In his sermon the pastor mentioned 3 non-believers who had looked at the resurrection and became Christians - the author of "who moved the stone", C. S. Lewis, and Lee Strobel. During the service my wife's faith was boosted by the sermon and during communion she took an extra piece of cracker and gave it to me. I said she was sneaky. I didn't take a little cup of grape juice though. (that's the second time someone has pressured me to have communion - the first time is earlier in this thread).

After church the senior Pastor came to talk to me. Tonight was the first time I mentioned Dan Barker to him. I have been reading his "Godless" book which I told him a lot about. At the moment I'm looking at the section about how historical Jesus is.

A month or two ago a guy I talk to a lot said that he'll only be coming to the church about every 3 months. He's studying to be a pastor. The last him I talked to him I mentioned Dan Barker and he said that he doesn't want to talk about him.

Before I left church tonight I wanted to talk to Daniel. I was going to ask him about how he used to visit mental wards while linked to a church. But I ended up asking him about how many kids people we knew had. That's because I only knew of 3 of their kids and 2 were married but apparently 2 were gay. Daniel knew about the forth kid.

The I hopped in the car with my wife to leave. A song by Elton John about Daniel was on the radio. I later found out the song was called "Daniel". It has lyrics about God and "Lord". Then I remember that my wife has been in relationships with two Daniels.

I thought about the book of the Bible "Daniel". It has dreams and prophecy but I haven't read it.

Then I also realised that Dan Barker's first name is "Daniel". I think his book (Godless) is helping me to learn about the Bible. He used to be a preacher but became more and more liberal until became an atheist.

Jesus fucking Christ, what kind of person writes emails like this?

If someone ever sent me an email like that I would probably slap them across the face the next time I saw them.

More about Maundy Thursday: (I knew "a new commandment" was related but didn't know the full extent!)
    http://www.patheos.com/blogs/giveust...d-commandment/
...Jesus says to you today: “A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” “Maundy Thursday” comes from the Latin words mandatum novum, or “new commandment,” taken from this verse (John 13:34.)...
Like those other 2 songs, "a new commandment" is a popular old Lutheran song - #65 from 1980's "All together now". I like it a lot but even though it was very appropriate, it wasn't at the service.

I was looking for youtube videos of the song....
Then I came across this one, that doesn't even have any singing but it is making my eyes well up:
