I nominate @LordLatch to head the general fabrication shop alongside @MarkovChain. I'll run a general forge, foundry and scrapyard because I'm a dual class ranger/wizard with a black thumb.

It will be like living on... fabrication*.

I'm also running for Minister of Punishment.

*when you take time off work to build some quasi-legal contraption in the backyard.

I'm curious what a town where everyone lives on the outskirts looks like.
Most of time, when people ask why something terrible happened, they don't realize they are looking for someone to blame.

I'd be interested in managing waste and controlling pests.

Build a bar, with the help of Robcore, and ferment alcohol.

I'm sure Jiggly would be raising the chickens.

Sappho would probably be hollowing out wooden instruments

I'll serve you all by day, but I only want the trouble makers by night.

PureViolence would no doubt spend a lot of time in my bar chatting up the ladies.

I would wager him to chat up Sista

I'd pull Madrigal to one side to plot our truly socialist revolution.. and I'd bring in Sloth to help with interior design.

I'd happily let Makers spend most of his time away from the commune.. hunting, actual food please Makers.

Rokki could be my bouncer too.. I'm sure you could rugby tackle Limey out the door if he starts getting too Nazi for my liking.. grab him by the ankles, he'll easily loose his footing.

Those who begin coercive elimination of dissent soon find themselves exterminating dissenters. Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard.

Here's what I envision. This a few miles outside of Semenkino, Novgorod Oblast. We might be able to find more ideal locations, particularly if we want to grow weed, but we can leave those details for later.

Houses are spread out enough for sufficient privacy. It's only about .35 square miles, but there's at least a football field in distance between each house which would be enough privacy. It's possible that two separate farm plots would be inefficient, I dunno. You got noisy/polluting stuff tucked away towards the West there away from any houses and separated by trees. You got your guard, guard dogs, and guard geese. There's 9 people between 8 houses here. Assuming there's at least one couple per house (there's going to need to be), that leaves 7 people doing domestic things or just having days off.

This map is editable if anyone wants to make changes, rep me for link. Unfortunately there aren't any pot farm icons, but there are a lot more military icons so we could also go into arms dealing. Then Russia would actually be a good location.

I can draft things for construction and then actually build those things!! I know how to do that!

Though admittedly I'm not qualified to build buildings that are meant to be permanent

But I have a decent general knowledge about it so I can probably make some really good guesses!

...also no stairs. Fuck stairs. Those are hard.

Probably raise goats. Or a an academic research assistant for someone. Preferably on weird fucking topics. Just not sex dolls, doggie couture, dog shit, or lactation porn/fetish. I've done enough of that IRL for papers.

i'm gonna tackle this in small chunks.

first, i'd hope for shared values to include adaptability & sustainability, thinking holistically for the long-term, respect for the ecosystem and having minimal impact (imo, this ensures the most efficiency in terms of harvesting renewable resources and creating stability). my idea would be some sort of ecovillage based off principles of permaculture. there'd be the study and implementation of ecological farming as well as emphasis on using natural and biodegradable materials, cuz one goal would be to create no waste or pollution or at least create as little waste and pollution as possible. spent materials would be repurposed or turned into compost, ensuring that what comes from the earth goes back into the earth as well, which would regenerate the soil and take away nothing from the land's natural wealth.

my valued traits include: sharp observational skills (to learn from nature's order), adaptability, resilience, respect for the natural world, a tendency to think scientifically, creativity, a cooperative spirit, resourcefulness, a healthy ego and willingness to question what isn't working

respect for science, arts and culture would be upheld, but i see art itself changing. the idea of manmade beauty would no longer be embodied in the creation of objects meant to be preserved indefinitely, but in the beauty of lived experience.

infrastructure and community organization would be largely inspired by the idea that in nature ecosystems have an innate sense of order that allows them to be fairly stable, and that stability is what makes room for the unpredictable elements of life. one person taking a vacation for 6 months wouldn't make the system collapse. work shifts last as long as needed (so some days you'll only be working like 4 hours or whatever), work is managed by the workers, and generally there's a lot of freedom and choice in this area of life, which is gonna appeal to the experience-seekers.

there will be facilities to learn, study, pursue independent interests and generally participate in culture. (ideally everybody agrees with this as a priority.) everybody gets a lot of time off to experience this benefit which is gonna be considered the "output" of all the hard work.

idk yet about housing types but buildings would obv be climate appropriate, and i'd like to allow everybody to live with as much space as they want in general. more personal space = more to clean and maintain, and nobody's gonna be doing that for you, so if you hate housework, you don't want a bigger house.

you've all got a huge, beautiful, outdoor living room, though.

what i can contribute: taking care of chickens, taking care of any animals in general (i'm thinking that establishing an animal sanctuary would be interesting), soapmaking (for a small community, i think i could easily manage that), gardening/farming (i'm interested in learning more and can see myself enjoying that work), typesetting/design of print media (could i work at the publishing house? we'll need editors, @Blorg ?), designing murals / beautifying spaces if that's wanted, domestic shit, odd jobs whenever needed

    re: weed farm
okay, i think @Madrigal grows weed, right? i'll help out.

edit: oh, i'm really interested in learning how to build! i wanna build chicken coops and tiny houses.

i can offer my assistance in exchange for education/training from anyone who knows construction / fabrication.
