Online Shopping -- the Good Deals Thread

    http://store.delias.com/product/conv...y=ourPicks&amp

At checkout if you enter the code EXTRA50 you get another 50% off the sale price, which makes these $12.50 for a pair of women's Converse. I saw this deal, and I got my wife a couple pairs of these because she likes these shoes.

Another good post-Xmas sale going on right now is 70% off at Muji USA.

Do you know of a good deal going on online right now? Post it!

Six centuries ago, the pre-Colombian natives who settled here named this region with a word which in their language means "the Mouth of Shadow". Later, the Iroquois who showed up and inexplicably slaughtered every man, woman and child renamed it "Seriously, Fuck that Place". When French explorer Jacques Marquette passed through the area he marked his map with a drawing of a brownish blob emerging from between the Devil's buttocks.

Here's another good one -- 55% off a pair of Audio Technica active noise-cancelling headphones.

I was going to buy the shoes for my daughter, but the smallest size they had in any color were tens. Eleven in the color she liked. I knew it was too good to be true!

That's a travesty! I guess you could buy her some noise-cancelling headphones as a consolation prize.

http://slickdeals.net/ You can even set up alerts for whatever you're interested in. I'd avoid dealing with the community though.

I like browsing the cheapest items on Ebay. I have a long search saved with lots of exclusions that I set up about a year ago:

stainless -bolt -bolts -washer -washers -coin -coins -screw -screws -necklace -studs -ear -earring -earrings -clip -clipper -ring -tie -rings -id -necklacependant -necklaces -chain -pendant -pendent -pendants -charm -charms -plate -cross.

I figure I'm more likely to be interested in stainless steel things. I just ordered this pen:

I will accept no further friend requests. This doesn't mean I don't love you or anything so don't be offended.

I buy a lot of non-urgent items from AliExpress these days. Shipping time is decent if you're in the States and choose ePacket, but not so much over here. I've often found the same item for a tenth of the price compared to Amazon. Just make sure to check that the seller has a 95%+ approval rating and has been open for at least two years. Anything less than that can be hit or miss.

Fun fact, if you've bought any kind of item off an "independent" online store in the past few years... chances are you've paid the store owner a hefty premium for a few clicks to order the item for you from AliExpress or Alibaba.

Shipping is also free... I bought a bike helmet to run around at work (the joys of living in a country with a compulsory all age helmet law is having to use a helmet on a 30 kph road with almost zero traffic) and didn't break $20 delivered. You can add $20 to $50 postage to get something from the US.

Yes, the prices are unbeatable for a wide range of products. Case in point: The Beauty Blender makeup sponge which (crazily) costs $20 in shops only costs about $1 here... it's even shipped in the same branded packaging.

That said, I do have qualms about buying items that are so competitively priced, because they cannot possibly be manufactured under humane circumstances... I'm sure this will backfire tremendously at some point later this century.

Unfortunately I doubt that huge retailers/middlemen with their big marketing machines care for that. I'd be quite happy to pay a premium for fair trade, but definitely not to put more money into the pockets of a corporate giant.
